An open competitive examination will be held by the State Selection Board (SSB) for the purpose of recruiting Civil Constables to work in various districts and institutions within the Odisha Police Department. NOTE
I. People with disabilities will not be considered for employment as constables in the police force (Civil).
II. Transgender people have the option to submit an application for the position of Civil Constable if they meet the requirements to do so.
III. A candidate who fills out an application form may only submit it for consideration for recruitment to a single Police District. This selection is fixed and cannot be altered.
IV. Candidates from reserved categories who meet the requirements for age relaxation are entitled to compete for open positions in the UR category.
Reservation
The vacancies are to be reserved for candidates belonging to the SC and ST category in accordance with the provisions contained in the Odisha Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services (For Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Act, 1975 and the rules made thereunder. Additionally, the vacancies are to be reserved for candidates belonging to the SEBC category, ex-servicemen, women, and sports persons in accordance with the provisions made under such rules, orders, or instructions issued in this regard by the Governor. I The regulations for reservations are to be followed in the appropriate manner for each district cadre.
ii) There is to be a reserve of 10% of notified openings in the rank of Constable (Civil) for Home Guards in each district during each recruitment year.
Candidates for the Home Guard who are chosen will be assigned to the category that is most appropriate for them.
iii) There shall be a 10% reservation of notified vacancies in the rank of Constables (Civil) in each district for Group ‘D’ employees of the Police Department in each and every recruitment year. iv) There shall be a 10% reservation of notified vacancies in the rank of Inspectors in each and every recruitment year. The applicants who were chosen from Group ‘D’ will be positioned in the category that is most appropriate for them.
Certificates/Documents Required
During the filling out of the application form, the applicants will be needed to provide scanned copies of the original certificates and papers that are stated below, beginning with 7(a) and continuing through 7(l). During the final appointment process, the Appointing Authority will be given the original copies of the certificates so that they may do a preliminary verification. During the process of document verification, the applicants who qualify will also be needed to present photocopies of the certificates, each of which must be self-attested, in addition to the original papers. a) A caste certificate that has been updated and issued by the appropriate authorities.
b) A certificate of completion of the tenth grade or an equivalent that was issued by the relevant Board or Council in support of the age declaration.
c) A certificate proving that you passed the 12th grade examination (+2 Examination) or an exam of an equal level that was given by the Council of Higher Secondary Education of Odisha or by any other Board or Council that is recognised.
d) In the case of former members of the armed forces, papers such as an identity card and a discharge certificate, which should include information on the individual’s date of admission, date of discharge, and length of time spent serving in the armed forces. Ex-Servicemen who are going to retire within six months of the closing date of online applications are eligible to apply for the post. To do so, they must first obtain a relevant “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) from the appropriate authority. This certificate must include the date of appointment, the date of retirement, and the year of service rendered in the Defense Forces. However, in order for their claims to be taken into consideration under the Ex-Servicemen category, such applicants are required to provide the genuine discharge certificate on the day that certificates are verified. In addition, the applicant who is an ex-serviceman will be asked to provide an undertaking during document verification as and when it is necessary to state that he has not previously taken use of the benefit accorded to ex-servicemen in regard to employment (Format given in Annexure-D).
e) In the case of a sportsperson, an identity card for a sportsperson that has been issued by the Director of Sports, Sports and Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha in accordance with Resolution No.24808/Gen., dated the 18th of November 1985 of the General Administration Department, and any subsequent amendments to that resolution.
f) A certificate stating that the applicant has either passed the HSC examination with Odia as one of the subjects or, in lieu of this, a certificate stating that the applicant has passed an examination in the Odia language that is equivalent to the M.E. standard that has been recognised or conducted by the School and Mass Education Department of the Government of Odisha.
g) In order to be eligible for a weightage mark from the NCC, the applicant has to provide either the NCC B or C certificate.
h) In the event that the individual identifies as transgender, a certificate of identity issued by the District Magistrate in accordance with Rule 5 of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Rules 2020 in conjunction with Section 6 of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.

l) In order to be eligible for Group-D and Home Guard, the candidate is needed to present the necessary credentials, which may be found in Annexes B and C, respectively.
Written Examination:
There will be one hundred marks available, and you will have two hours and twenty minutes to complete it (a) The written test will consist of questions on the following topics: the Odia language, the English language, arithmetic, general knowledge, situational awareness, logical reasoning, and basic computer knowledge. The level of difficulty of the questions must be such that they may be answered by a student who has successfully completed the +2 Examination. In the written test, there will be a penalty of 0.25 points deducted from a student’s total score for each incorrect response.
(a) The language of the written test will be English, with the exception of any questions that are written in Odia.
(c) Candidates who do not show up for the written exam will be eliminated from consideration.
(d) The State Selection Board will, in accordance with the Recruitment Rules, determine the minimum number of points necessary to pass the written examination.
(B) The Evaluation of Physical Standards and Capacity to Perform Physical Activities
On the basis of how well candidates did on the OMR-based written examination, a number of candidates equal to five times the number of category-specific vacancies that were advertised for each District / Establishment will be called to appear for the Physical Standards Measurement in order of merit, and only those candidates who qualify in the Physical Standards Measurement will be allowed to take part in the Physical Efficiency Test. The date of the Physical Standards Measurement and Physical Efficiency Test will be posted on the aforementioned websites, and applicants will be notified of the date through SMS and e-mail sent to the mobile numbers and e-mail addresses that they used to register for the exam. Both the Physical Standard Measurement and the Physical Efficiency Test are used only for the purpose of qualifying candidates and do not count toward final scores. In order to pass, the applicant has to do well on both the Physical Standard Test and the Physical Efficiency Test, both of which are described in more detail below. If you fail at any of the stages, you will be eliminated from the competition.
